Why Work With UR?

University Relations (UR) helps maximize the reputation of Michigan State University by building awareness of MSU and telling its stories with impact, focusing on university-level, brand-aligned marketing and media communications.

UR's team of writers and editors, designers, developers, and photographers provides communications leadership for the campus-offering consultation to units, assisting them in developing strategies to align unit communications with the university's brand, and producing creative communications across a wide spectrum of media.

UR collaborates with the campus community and provides:

  • Strategic, integrated marketing communications for print, Web, and new media
  • News and media relations
  • Marketing and media consulting
  • Photo and video services (fee for service)
  • Printing and mailing services (fee for service)

University Communicators Network

UR provides support for communications professionals across campus, sharing ideas and supporting efforts to integrate the MSU brand throughout the university, via the University Communicators Network (UCN):

  • Monthly meetings
  • Online discussion forums and UCN intranet
  • E-mail announcements to a listserv
  • Orientation for new communicators
  • Annual conference and continuing education
  • Marketing consulting as requested
